My little helper

Today was full of things to do around the house and Sam was determined to help in any way that he could.

It first started at breakfast. He wanted pancakes and I didn't have any Bisquick so we went to the store and all they had was the "Shake and Pour" mix (which I've never used, so it was a litle runny). After I had made a few pancakes, he wanted to make another one for him. He eagerly took the jug and without hesitation, poured the entire mix on the griddle! We were both shocked at first, but after we realized how funny it was, we both started laughing so hard! Needless to say, this was the biggest pancake I have ever made. I had to use two spatulas to flip the thing over, but we did it!

It was then off to cleaning the house. We had also bought toilet bowl scrubbers when we went to the store to buy the pancake mix, so he was ready to help with that too. I just had to take a picture of a boy cleaning the toilet! What's that called......an Oxymoron?!!

What a wonderful helper!!

Caribbean Cruisin'

Barry and I went on a cruise to celebrate our 10 year anniversary and had a wonderful time! We sailed to Puerto Rico, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. All stops were terrific and the weather cooperated for the most part. It was our first time on a cruise and it won't be the last!

In Puerto Rico, we took a tour of the city. We went to the Capital building and learned some interesting things about their Government. We then went to the famous Castillo fort. The forts protected the city from any intruders and it surrounds the entire island. Pictures couldn't describe how amazing these were!

Our next stop was St. Thomas and what a beautiful island! We went on a snorkeling tour, so we only got to see a little bit of the island. We would love to go back and stay so we can see more. This is the place to go if you are a shopper!

Our last stop was St. Maarten. This island is half Dutch and half French. We went on a beach rendevouz on the French side and even got to see a couple of topless woman! Whoo Hoo! Too bad for Barry-they were both "elderly" woman.

The weather was very nice, but windy most of the time. The ship rocked alot, but we never got sick. You just felt drunk all the time when you were walking around. It was nice at night because the rocking actually put me to sleep!

Every night when we would return to our room, the room attendants would create a cute animal from towels and leave it in our room. We actually looked forward to going back to see what they had done!

This is a picture of us and the cute Newlywed couple that were at our table each night. We had a lot of fun getting to know them. (That's our waiter behind us)

This is the Dining Room. It's so amazing to see what's on these cruise ships! It's just like a city on water!! Very beautiful!

We had a great time and are so thankful for Gene and Carol for coming down from Seattle to watch the kids while we were away!! We really enjoyed the time alone together. It really felt like a second Honeymoon!

Boring!

So nothing exciting has been happening at the Currah household. Everyone knows the blah after the Holidays and the weather has been so gross that all I want to do is get away from here!

We are getting very excited about our Caribbean Cruise in March, so that's what keeps me going! It is our 10 year Anniversary in August, so we are doing something for ourselves and taking a cruise. We opted not to go in August since it's Hurricane season, so we thought March would be a perfect time!

Alexus is staying busy with school and friends. She ran for SBO President a couple of weeks ago, and sadly didn't make it. She's okay with it and took it very well. We're very proud of her for trying! Here is a picture of one of her posters she made.

I hope next time I have something more exciting to write about. Until next time........................

Christmas Joy!

Wow! I can't believe how time flies! I haven't updated this thing forever because I've been so busy with the Holidays. I've got so many things to talk about, so excuse me for my blabbering.

We had our first big snow storm of the winter on the 13th and Sam was just itching to go out and build a snowman. Here it is!

We went to my brother's house for Christmas Eve dinner and had a blast! The kids had so much fun playing with their toys and as you can see Sam and Tyler(my Nephew) had fun playing on Grandpa! My Dad loves these kids so much and they can't get enough of him!

These are the crazy girls of the family. London(my Niece), my Mom, my little Sis, Amy, Alexus of course, and then there's me! I don't know where Nicole was, but she's missing from the picture. She was probably upstairs slaving away with dinner while all of us slackers had fun. She did an awesome job hosting our little shindig. Thanks Nicole! I am so grateful for my family and all the good times we have with each other. I love spending time with them, especially during the Holidays.

We left out Cookies(Double Stuff Oreos) for Santa and carrots & celery for the reindeer. Sam wrote a note to Santa with the help of Alexus and set it with the cookies. (You can't really read it) The look on his face was priceless when he saw that Santa had eaten the cookies and the carrots and celery were gone. I love it!

Christmas morning was like any other Christmas. Sam ripping through his presents and Alexus being so dainty opening hers. Sam was all smiles when he opened his remote control Wall-E. We had him open it last, so he wouldn't be distracted from all his other presents because he has been dying to get Wall-E!

We were pounded with Snow the day after Christmas, so what else do you do with 10 inches of snow then build a hill with a jump at the bottom? Alexus and I were outside for three hours building this thing and all the neighbors came over to try it out when we were done! It was loads of fun having all the kids out playing! I love our neighborhood!

We had the best Christmas this year and I'm so grateful for what the Holidays bring-Love, Joy, Family, and Happiness. I have the best family anyone could ask for and I'm grateful each and every day for them.

My Baby Girl turns 15!

Alexus turned 15 on December 4th. I really can't believe how fast time goes by. I remember the day she was born and how happy I was to have a little girl. I was very young and didn't know the first thing about being a Mom, but somehow it just came natural because I loved her so much and wanted the very best for her.

She has grown to be a beautiful young woman and I can't imagine my life without her. I truly believe things happen for a reason, and Alexus was born for a purpose. She fulfills that purpose each and every day. She makes me strive to be a better Mom because she is such a good person with a huge heart!

Alexus has a special gift-a gift of love and happiness. She can brighten any room she walks into and can make friends with anyone and everyone. She works hard and has accomplished so much already in her life. She's a good girl and she makes such good choices. When people ask how old my kids are, and when I tell them I have a 15 year old daughter, they always sympathize and say, "Oh, I bet that's hard." But ya know, I really lucked out with her! She has been much easier than I was at her age (Mom, you can sure vouch for that, huh?), and I'm very lucky!

I love you so much Lex, and I am so glad to be your Mommy!

Happy Birthday!!!

We had a week of birthday celebrations for her. She had three birthday parties! (Lucky!) She had her friends over Friday night for a sleepover. They did each others hair, had dinner, watched movies, and stayed up all night! I took a three hour nap the next day to recover from the madness.

Don't you love the Winnie the Pooh cake? Her nickname as a little girl was Piglet, so it was only appropriate that she have it on her cake.

We've had a busy week this week. Barry & I took the week off to be with Sam and we had loads of fun!

Every year, we make Gingerbread Houses and this year we didn't fall short. Sam had such a fun time decorating(and eating) his house. He is very proud of his work of art!

Each year, our employer has school children make ornaments and come decorate the trees in each branch. My department decided to have the children of the employees do the decorating. Sam, Alexus, myself (and even Barry) made popcorn and cranberry garland and gingerbread girls and boys for the tree. The kids had lots of fun decorating and we even had a special guest from the North Pole!

We all went Downtown to see the lights at the Temple and we stopped to have dinner at Little America. They have this cute display in the lobby of this gingerbread house. I don't think I could even attempt to make one this big!! It was really handmade!

Let the Holidays begin!

Okay, so we've made a jump start to Christmas! We went to the Mall today and got our Santa pictures done. So Grandma C., here is a preview of the picture. I'll be sending them snail mail soon.
Sam asked Santa what kind of cookies he likes and Santa whispered in his ear "Double Stuffed Oreos." Now we are going to have to go to the store and buy Oreos to leave out for Santa.

I found this vile of magic Reindeer food that you sprinkle in your yard to attract Santa's reindeer, so I bought it and now that's all Sammy can talk about. All of these things are getting him so excited for Christmas!

I love this time of year, watching kids get so excited and how magical the Christmas mood has on those cute little ones!

We spent most of the day yesterday getting the yard ready for winter. As you can see, we had more than enough leaves to rake! Alexus and Sam had a fun time playing in the pile. Today we are all feeling the affects of working so hard. I hope it's that anyway, and not a sign of old age!! Yuck!!!

Thanksgiving song

Sammy has been learning many songs at Pre-School, especially during the Holidays. This video is one of the latest songs he learned and Kerri recorded him and Sophie singing it to her. It's so funny because you can barely understand what they are singing. The song goes like this......."A Turkey is a funny bird, his head goes wobble wobble. And all he knows is just one word....gobble, gobble, gobble. Enjoy!!!

Happy Halloween!

We had a fun Halloween yesterday! Sam looked great as a Vampire and loved it! He had a party at Preschool and then I went to see his parade. They sang Halloween songs and it was so cute!

Alexus had a Halloween party at our house with 10 of her friends and she did a great job planning it. They bobbed for apples, ate donuts from strings, and dressed like Mummies using toilet paper. This is the only picture she took, and she's not even in it!

Sam went Trick-or-Treating with all his neighbor friends. Then Tyler(my Nephew) came over and Barry, Aaron and Nicole took them out. I got to stay home and hand out candy, but we hardly had any Trick-or-Treaters! I was very surprised at the lack of kids that were out. We planned on having a ton, so we bought loads of candy. Needless to say, even after giving all the opened bags of candy to Alexus' friends, we still have 5 bags left! Oh well!!!

The four of us drove up Provo Canyon today to look at the leaves. We decided to drive up Sundance and stop to walk around. What a beautiful day! We took a bunch of pictures that turned out so cute! Sam played in the pond and tried to catch fish.....no such luck!! Alexus tried out her photographer skills and did a great job taking pictures of Barry and I. Good job Lex!!

We went to dinner with Amy and Johnny on Saturday to "The Fire Place" (Tempanyaki). We had a great time and when we were finishing with dinner, a group of teenagers dressed like Zombies sat at the table behind us. I brought it to the attention of Sam, thinking he might want to see them and he got scared to death. He got so scared that he hid under the table and clung to both Alexus and I. Barry and I tried to get him out from under the table, but he was too scared. For some reason he didn't want them to see him, so he wouldn't get up. I finally convinced him to get up with me and that I would block him so they couldn't see him and we would leave. I couldn't believe how scared he was, but that's Sammy......very cautious!

Alexus had a great time with Amy. They have such a close relationship and I really enjoy seeing them interact with each other. They act more like sisters than aunt/niece.

I love you guys!!!

Neighborhood Fun!

Sam had a fun weekend with neighborhood friends. Dawn, our neighbor, got all the kids together for "craft day" on Saturday. They made ghosts with their hands(see picture), Fruit Loop necklaces, and skeletons made of Q-tips. The three boys (William, Briant, and Sam) have such a great time together and are so cute with each other! We really have a great neighborhood!

Summer Recap

We had a great time this summer! We took a vacation to San Diego with the kids and had a blast! We went to Sea World, LegoLand and spent a day at the beach. It was both Lexi's and Sammy's first time at the beach (I know...they live such sheltered lives!) and they loved every minute of it. Lexi spent the entire time jumping the waves with Barry and Sammy and I built a sand castle that eventually got washed away.
Lexi spent three separate weeks at camp with church and babysat her little brother and sister.
We signed Sammy up for swimming lessons for the first time. He was very cautious, but is now getting more and more used to the water.

Sammy turned 5 this year! I can't believe how fast he has grown! Time really does fly!
He had his first party with friends this year and he chose to go to Chuck E Cheese! He had a blast, but was a little scared of Chucky when he came out to sing Happy Birthday. After I told him that it was just a kid inside the suit, he was fine. What a character!
My family came over for his party the next day and he had a blast playing with his cousin Tyler and especially Uncle Jeremy! He got his first "big" bike and quickly learned to ride it!

We finally got high tech and created a blog for all family & friends to keep in touch! I'm a little apprehensive to do this, but I think it's a great way to keep everyone up to date on our family. We especially created this for "Gamma" Carol so that she can be kept up to date on little Sammy. All of Barry's relatives are out of state, so we don't get the chance to keep in touch.

We really hope this will allow us to stay in touch more often!!
